MRS.
HODGES' COOKIES
I have never met Mrs. Hodges. I only know her via two of her creations:
Doug and Brad.
1 c. sweet butter or margarine
1/4 c. raw sugar
1 t. almond extract
2 c. wholewheat pastry flour
Jam or preserves (apricot, strawberry, raspberry, cherry, etc.)
Sesame seeds (optional)
1. Set oven for 400 .
2. Combine butter, sugar, almond extract and flour. Dough will be stiff
and crumbly.
3. Roll dough into little balls the size of a walnut. Roll in sesame seeds
if desired.
4. Make an indention on top with your thumb. Fill with a small blob of
jam or preserves. If you like, use a couple of different kinds and make
an assortment.
5. Bake on greased cookie sheets 10-12 minutes or until golden.
